Thursday, October 22nd, 2015

European Resuscitation Council Guidelines 2015The details of the new European Resuscitation Council Guidelines 2015 have been formally announced at the Resuscitation Today Conference. The conference was part of the Life Connections exhibition at the Kettering Conference Centre in the UK which focused on new guidelines for treating penerating trauma injuries with Celox Haemostatic dressings.

Speakers including Professor Sir Keith Porter, Sheila Turner, Andy Thurgood and Mike Davis were amongst those providing insight and discussing topics within the new Resus Guidelines.

The European Resuscitation Council Guidelines 2015 will provide specific instructions for how resuscitation should be practiced and take into account ease of teaching and learning, as well as the science. They were developed by Europeans and have been specifically written with European practice in mind. The guidelines greatly change the overall picture for first aid providers and trainers.

First Aid for trauma emergencies

Included in the European Resuscitation Council Guidelines 2015 are instructions on First Aid for trauma emergencies specifically highlighting the importance to control external bleeding with direct pressure and haemostatic dressings.

“Use a haemostatic dressing when direct pressure cannot control severe external bleeding or the wound is in a position where direct pressure is not possible. Training is required to ensure the safe and effective application of these dressings”.

Train to ensure the safe and effective application of Hemostatic Dressings

The European Resuscitation Council Guidelines 2015 clearly state that training is required for many of the instructions within their guidelines.
