Medtrade Shortlisted for the 2023 Great British Entrepreneur Awards
Medtrade, a Cheshire-based Medical |Device and Bio-Technology company, is excited to announce that they have been shortlisted for the prestigious 2023 Great British Entrepreneur Awards in two separate categories Scale-Up Entrepreneur of the Year and Technology Entrepreneur of the Year categories. This recognition reflects their exceptional entrepreneurial spirit, dedication, and remarkable achievements within their industry.
Now in its 11th year, and previously described as “The Grammys for Entrepreneurship”, The Great British Entrepreneur Awards celebrate the outstanding individuals and businesses that drive innovation, generate employment opportunities, and contribute to the growth of the UK economy. These awards serve as a platform to honour the remarkable stories of entrepreneurs who have overcome challenges, demonstrated resilience, and make significant contributions to their communities.

The Great British Entrepreneur Awards have become one of the most coveted accolades for entrepreneurs across the UK, celebrating the nation’s diverse entrepreneurial landscape. The awards ceremony will take place on November 20th 2023 at London’s Grosvenor House, where industry leaders, innovators, and influencers will gather to celebrate the achievements of the finalists.

Medtrade have been shortlisted in two separate categories given their broad contribution and significant contribution to medical innovation throughout the year. Firstly, the Scale-Up Entrepreneur of the Year recognises the incredible contribution the team have made towards supporting the Ukraine war in providing over 1 million lifesaving CELOX haemostatic bandages to the front line and helping to save many hundreds of lives during the conflict. Medtrade increase manufacturing output 7 fold within 3 weeks of the conflict starting and managed to deliver the first shipment to the front line in just 3 days.
The second award for Technology Entrepreneur of the Year recognises the companies use of the lifesaving CELOX haemostatic technology where the team have redesigned the product for the management of severe bleeding following childbirth, better known as Postpartum Haemorrhage (PPH). Today over 80,000 mothers die of PPH globally and PPH remains the leading cause of maternal mortality around the world. Medtrade are committed to making CELOX PPH available at every delivery across the world. In recent studies CELOX PPH has demonstrated over 95% success rate in bleeding control and a 78% reduction in hysterectomy rates vs. the current standard of care and has recently been granted CE (MDR) approval allowing Medtrade to commercialise globally. Given its unique mode of action and product make up, CELOX PPH is well placed to be adopted in both a high and low resourced setting.
